Hi! I’m Louise, I’m mum to one son, wife to a husband and dog mum to two dogs.

We live in the South of England, in a perfect location nestled between the London, the M25 (for easy getaways) and the beautiful Surrey/Kent countryside, and not too far from Gatwick and Heathrow airports. This gives us such a Good launch pad to start our adventures!

I’m currently lucky enough to be taking a career break to maximise the time for adventures with my son, after 15 years in mergers and acquisitions. It’s taken me a bit of time to get used to being a stay at home mum, after focusing on my career for so long, so it hasn’t always been easy – but the adventures with my son have absolutely made my maternity leave and my extended time away from work. As such, I wanted to start to document them to help others have the confidence to step out of the everyday and maybe get a few ideas to take themselves.

My son is in nursery 3 days a week, and we try to go on an adventure at least one of the other days – even if it’s just snack time in the forest whilst walking the dogs! Obviously not every day is a holiday, I’m actually writing this whilst we all have a tummy bug… and we are watching more TV than I’d like! Although I think I like Bluey just as much as him.

My husband works full time, so doesn’t have the opportunity to join us on all our adventures. My husband and I have been to 22 counties together, with our highlights being Japan, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. My son has been to France (x2), Japan, Greece, Corfu and Spain so far, with trips to Morocco and Sicily planned this year.

Since pregnancy, I’ve decided to keep my son’s name and face off of social media – and therefore this blog, and if I do use a name – it’s a pseudonym, Henry. He hasn’t yet had the opportunity to live his life his way, nor has he had any say in me starting this blog (except for saying yes to the adventures we have and the activities we do!). I want to ensure that as he grows, so does the mutual trust and acceptance between us (not withstanding the teenage years!), so I think keeping his privacy at this age is key.

The dogs, however, are happy to be named! We have Fitz, who is a Greek rescue dog from Halkidiki and Jessie, who is a Cyprus rescue dog who we rescued through SPDC. They have their own quirks, but our lives wouldn’t be the same without them. Fitz is our first baby, and she joined us in 2019 when we lived in Clapham. Jessie joined us in 2023 after the passing of our previous foster fail Kira.
